Opti Coat official dealer Gold Coast

Opti-Coat Pro application - Gold Coast and Brisbane region

Opti-Coat Pro+ (latest version) is a clear coat formula that forms a permanent film that protects paint and other automotive surfaces indefinitely, if applied correctly to a properly prepared surface.

Fab's Car Polishing is the only authorized Opti-Coat dealer on the Gold Coast. Opti-Coat is a thick and superior paint protection product designed for professional application only.

Opti-Coat acts as a second layer of clear coat providing increased protection from the attacks of environmental elements. Opti-Coat can be applied to painted surfaces and wheels and should only be applied to painted surfaces that are completely clean, de-waxd and free of defect.

Opti-Coat is a permanent coating like polyurethane that will bond to all automotive painted surfaces. It will be dry to touch within 30 minutes and cure within 12 hours. After the 30 minute dry time, it can only be removed with sanding or machine polishing.

Unlike factory urethane clear coats, Opti-Coat does not oxidise over time and provides permanent hydrophobic surface characteristics that release water, dirt and grime. Your car stays cleaner and shiny for much longer.

We have the initial results in from the CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organisation). Opti-Coat was tested for chemical and scratch resistance. Chemical Resistance was measured using concentrated (100%) Hydrochloric Acid, Phosphoric Acid and Ethanol. Each resulted in no effect to the coating. Scratch Resistance was tested and showed resistance up to 1100 grams. A result like this is commonly referred to as 'above 9H'Click here to see our results. Full documentation will be available soon. We will have more results coming in the near future.

Opti-coat F.A.Q.

1 - How is Opti-coat different from other paint protection/ sealants?
Opti-Coat is different to other paint protection waxes/sealants because it is not a wax or a sealant. It is a polymer clear coat much like factory clear coats. Opti-Coat permanently displays hydrophobic and cleaning properties you would normally see from a freshly applied wax or sealant. It is also much more resistant to chemical etching than factory clear, harder and therefore more resistant to scratching than factory clear. Unlike waxes/sealants that degrade over time, Opti-Coat does not break down or delaminate from the surface. It is permanent like the paint on the car. Opti-Coat Paint Protection measures approximately 2 - 3 microns in thickness (a lot thicker with our spray on method). Compared to other Paint Protections, Opti-Coat is more than 100 times thicker with tests showing a non-permanent dealership Paint Protection Sealant measuring less than 0.02 microns.

The main difference from Opti-Coat and all the other 'paint protection' products is that Opti-Coat is permanent and you don’t need to use special shampoos to wash your car. I guess the main question you might ask regarding this is - If I need to ONLY wash my car with a special soft, pH neutral shampoo then - how is this product so weak that even a strong car shampoo can remove it from my paint?? Opti-Coat does not present this problem.

2 - What are the benefits of applying opti-coat to my car's paintwork?
Resistant to chemical etching, resistant to scratching, resistant to bird droppings, bug splatter, tree sap or UV damage (oxidation and colour fading), car stays cleaner for longer and is much easier to clean, permanent just waxed look. Single stage paints become “clear coated” and will not oxidise however we cannot offer warranty on non clear coated finishes. One thing to note is that the product is not scratch proof. Poor maintenance may scratch the finish. Tap water left to dry in the sun may leave water stains that need to be professionally removed. Opti-Coat is 2 - 3 microns thick though, so although the coating may be damaged by poor maintenance, it still does its job of protecting the factory paint by absorbing this damage.

Correct maintenance of Opti-coated cars is super easy, a gentle wash and microfiber/ clean chamois dry is all it needs.

3 - How does the 7 year Opti-Coat warranty work?
Zen Automotive Suppliers Pty Ltd, the exclusive importer of Opti-Coat in Australia, warrant to the owner of the nominated vehicle that if the Optimum Clear Coating is unsatisfactory in its performance of protecting the vehicles factory paintwork from oxidation, or damage from bird droppings, bug splatter, tree sap or UV damage, whilst being maintained in accordance with the terms and conditions of the warranty, Zen Automotive Suppliers Pty Ltd or its agents will at no cost to the owner repair or clean, and re-treat the affected area.

The Opti-Coat warranty is optional and it is priced at $99. For full terms and conditions please check http://www.opticoat.com.au

5 - Can I buy opti-coat and apply it myself?
No, Opti-Coat is only available to selected professionals. Application requires an experienced professional to avoid damage to the surface. Incorrect application may leave behind streak marks that can only be removed by sanding or machine compounding. The process also requires extensive surface preparation before product application. We were one of the first approved Opti-Coat installers in Australia.

6 - How long does it take for a professional to apply opti-coat to my car?
Hand application of Opti-Coat itself takes 2 - 3 hours. Fab's Car Polishing now uses professional spray painting equipment to apply Opti-Coat to your vehicle. Application via spray gun allows for a superior and thicker finish. This new method (two leveled layers) requires double the amount of product to cover the entire vehicle compared to hand application however application process may not take as long.

Paint preparation includes de-waxing and decontamination - this is the key step for extra gloss and proper product bonding to the surface and takes an additional 2 - 4 hours prior to application. Depending on the condition of the car, used cars in particular, preparation including machine polish may take a number of hours.

7 - Can I drive the vehicle just after product application?
Curing (bonding to the surface) will occur within an hour - vehicle can be driven then. Vehicle can get wet (rain) after two hours and you could hand wash it after 72 hours. Fully hardening will continue over a few weeks as the resin dehydrates but no worries, the coating can't be affected under normal daily conditions.

8 - Can I apply other sealants/ waxes or polish on a opti-coated car?
Yes, you can apply additional waxes/sealants to the surface although it is not required. Opti-Coat once applied becomes a permanent part of your vehicles paint system. Applying a wax or sealant on top of the Opti-Coat is no different to applying to factory clear coats. A NON ABRASIVE polish/paint cleaner can also be used if necessary.

9 - How does opti-coat handles severe bird/ bat droppings?
In severe conditions (heat and humidity) bird/ bat droppings will etch factory clear coats in only minutes or hours. Opti-Coat is completely resistant to these acids with real life testing over periods of 4-6 weeks showing no etching of the coating. This contamination should still be removed as soon as possible. In the event that damage does occur (very rare), the 2+ microns of Opti-Coat will absorb any damage and protect the factory paint beneath.

Interior Protection (dash, console, doors, seats and carpets - Opti Guard Leather & Vinyl & Opti Guard Fabric)

from $495

Opti-Guard Fabric

Superhydrophobic, Long term Protection.

Opti-Guard Fabric creates a superhydrophobic coating to protect fabric seats, carpets, fabric convertible tops and other textile surfaces. When liquids come in contact with Opti-Guard Fabric and closed loop textiles, the surface repels the substance and liquids roll off without penetrating or staining the material. Additionally, for materials with an open structure such as plush carpets where liquids are able to penetrate the surface, the coating prevents any penetration of the fibres and permanent staining of the material.

How Does it Work?

Opti-Guard Fabric forms a strong bond with the fibres to prevent removal during cleaning. This bond between the substrate and the coating creates a surface that produces a very high contact angle when in contact with liquids. Due to this extremely high contact angle, liquids are anable to attach or penetrate the fibres and are repelled in droplets.  When combined with Optimum Fabric Cleaner & Protectant, the Opti-Guard system provides permanent protection for these surfaces.

Opti-Guard Leather

Maximum UV Protection for Leather & Vinyl

Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl creates a hydrophobic coating with concentrated UV absorbers to protect leather seats and dashboards from premature ageing, cracking, and other damage such as colour transfer and staining of leather seats.

Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl is an acrylic hybrid resin that creates a strong, yet flexible coating for these softer surfaces and high resistance to chemicals. The coating contains special matting agents to maintain the original factory appearance of the surface it is applied to.

How Does it Work?

Opti-Guard Leather & Vinyl is applied liberally to the surface and left to be absorbed by the substrate. The resin penetrates the surface to produce a permanent bond within the material. This is particularly important for leather seats that are subjected to constant wear and abrasion. As the coating soaks deep within the leather, it is resistant to be removed through normal use.
